What can we all learn from last week's American Idol drama? Never, ever assume that your audience will support you if you don't clearly ask for their help. Ruben's been our favorite in the office, because he's exhibited -- either effortlessly or unconsciously, we can't really tell -- so many attributes of successful artists. Stellar performances, innovative branding (I hope he gets a cut of the "205" jersey action), accessability, everything.EXCEPT, in the last few weeks, the vibe from host, judges and co-stars has been that Ruben's a "lock." (With Locke on his heels, granted.) The message that gets to fans: "I don't need your help."Take a look at what messages you're sending to YOUR fans. Remind them that you're only able to do what you do when they support you.
